Welcome to part 1 of a 3 part series (Definitions of love)
Never saw this coming! It kind of blows statements like “There is nothing you can do to make God love you more.” right out of the water, doesn’t it?
A Pastor made this statement in Church last week. So, like all Bible bashing Christians let us unpack this and see what comes out…
I have my opinions already but lets see what the facts are first???
The Definition of Love is:
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
- Does not Envy
- Does not boast
- Is not Proud
- Does not Dishonor Others
- Is not Self Seeking
- Is not easily angered
- No record of wrongs
- Does not delight in evil
- Rejoices in the truth
15 points to Gods love. God is love, so essentially this list is the definition of God. Wow that is cool!!! I wonder what the difference between Envy and Jealousy is? Jealous God?
